Ivan Keith ft. Dre Butterz – ‘Get It Together’

Louisiana-born rapper Ivan Keith inspires with his lyrics delivered in a current of infectious rhythm. Written after a near-death experience, Ivan’s track, ‘Get It Together’, which features producer/songwriter Dre Butterz, is a call to responsibility to the youth of today.

Ivan’s rhymes challenge the guns and violence which has sadly become the status quo in a lot of communities. The track is autobiographical, with Ivan choosing to see his near-misses not as just a chance, but rather a duty call to do his part in making the world in which he lives a little more compassionate.

The video for ‘Get It Together’ sees Ivan Keith delivering his message face on to camera while he drops his lines about his knowledge of the subject. He’s focused on the camera in total seriousness, and steps back on the rooftop to let Dre Butterz sing the anthemic, stripped down chorus, “when will we get it together?”.

Shot in Detroit, with the famous skyline visible in the distance, the video is a stark reminder that even in the most gleaming cities of glass and steel, there’s also whole neighbourhoods nearby which may as well be another world. The story doesn’t just apply to America and its struggles, but can also reflect what’s going on in the wider world.
