Matt Lande Is Going ‘Underground’ With Lead Track From New Album ‘Boxes’

Growing up in a small town in Central Florida, Matt Lande longed for something more. He picked up a guitar class during his high school senior year and found his passion and direction. From there he honed his craft as songwriter, guitarist and vocalist in local and regional bands, before joining alt rockers, StorySide: B.

The band signed a contract with Gotee/EMI, and toured widely with their album, ‘Everything And More’, for which Matt co-wrote the title track, which was released as a single, and found its way to the top of the charts. After three years with the band, Lande moved to Los Angeles, whereupon he joined the band, Heaven Is Where, as lead vocalist, guitarist, writer, and co-producer. During his five years in LA Matt and Heaven Is Where released two albums, ‘Stories From Yesterday’, and ‘Welcome Home The Child’, a side project, the EP, ‘DarkStar’, and performed both the band, or as a duo or solo artist, until his record deal was fulfilled.

In 2013 Lande moved on yet again, this time to Portland, Oregon, marking a fresh start for his career as an independent musician, as well as double and stand-in gigs for actors including Noah Wyle, Travis Fimmel, Steve Buscemi, and Alexis Denisof, among others.

Matt released his album, ‘GLOW’, at the end of 2015, which gave him the confidence to experiment more with his new material. The collection of emotion inducing alt pop was certainly radio-worthy, and so he decided to self-produce and mix his next album, ‘Boxes’, set for release on August 4.

Lande says of the new album,

“Boxes, is about packing up the negative things associated with the past and moving on. This album is something I’m extremely proud of on many levels.”

Like most independent artists who value the importance of their own creative freedom, Lande found himself involved in a super-intense hands-on approach, which included last-minute edits to a mix of one of his songs, while in his London hotel room, mere minutes before he headed off to Abbey Road Studios, where he handed his material over to legendary mastering engineer, Frank Arkwright.

Matt’s track, ‘Underground’, is a rocky number, opening up with a swirling, almost trainlike vibe. Once the guitars come in, sounding for all the world like ‘Ruby’ from Kaiser Chiefs, the listener knows they’re going to be in for a treat. Lande’s voice is stunning and smokey, reminding us of the likes of Bruce Foxton or Bryan Adams.
The eleven track album, ‘Boxes’, from Matt Lande, is out on August 4. Find Matt Lande online on Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, and his official website.
