Six Quick Questions With The Germein Sisters

It’s been a year since we last spoke to the Germein Sisters, now the singing sisters from South Australia are back, performing at Water Rats, London, tomorrow night, ahead of their appearance at the Isle Of Wight Festival. We took the opportunity to catch up with them and ask them Six Quick Questions.

EP: Welcome back! You’ve become a part of our summer experience here in London! What’s changed since we last saw you?

GS: Thanks Lisa – It’s great to be back! Since being here last year we have recorded new music, toured Germany, Switzerland, Australia, played a sold out radio concert on Mallorca, opened for Ronan Keating on his ‘Time of my Life’ Tour in Germany, performed for 30,000 people on NYE at Elder Park, Adelaide for the Lord Mayors’ city party and played Tamworth Music Festival.

EP: What can fans expect at your show at the Water Rats tomorrow night?

GS: We will be showcasing our original music with a couple of popular covers played Germein style. Our high energy set will include new songs played by the three of us on electric, acoustic and bass guitar, electric cello piano and drums. Songs will feature our harmonies and tell our story.

EP: You’re playing the Isle Of Wight Festival for the third year running – what keeps bringing you back?

GS: We just cant resist an invitation to perform at this iconic Festival – Its such a fun, vibrant festival set in a beautiful location! There is always a diverse range of fantastic acts and something for everyone. Its well organised, eco friendly and run by an experienced team of fabulous people.

EP: ‘100 Years’ sounds very personal – what’s the story behind it?

GS: In this song, 100 years represents a lifetime, and the song is about how we are given just one lifetime on earth, so we should be with those we love, not miss an opportunity to tell them how we feel, make the most of life, and do something good and right.

EP: Staying with the 100 years theme, what do you hope to have achieved by the end of your lives?

For us, we love making music, so we would love to do that for as long as we can. But if through our music or whatever we do in life, we can positively impact the life of someone or others, then that would be a pretty cool achievement for us. And of course a world wide number one single would be awesome too! Ha!

EP: Where is the rest of 2017 going to take you and what’s in store for 2018?

GS: We are currently in the process of recording and finalising some new music! So we are aiming to have new songs out and possibly our second album ready to go by the end of this year or early next year. After the Isle of Wight Festival we take our music to Switzerland, Germany and play a Radio concert on Mallorca, before heading south for more adventures. More tours are in the planning stage!
