RJ Thompson – ‘London’

A fan of Bruce Springsteen, Jack Savoretti, or Ben Howard? Then look no further!

Geordie singer and song-writer RJ Thompson is an up and coming artist making his mark! He has had a meotoric rise over the past 18 months, with one song hitting nearly 13 thousand views. RJ has now released his new single London, which looks certain to appeal to a wide audience. Although it’s unlike most things in the charts, it’s in a good way.

‘London’ is beautifully written, and really is one of a kind, while the video which accompanies it has been produced with a lot of thought and effort taken into it.

The sound of RJs talented voice really shows how rare he is. The lyrics make sense and go together perfectly like the pieces of a jigsaw puzzle. The video has provocative visuals, while the lyrics help the music really sum up all the odd moments the UK has witnessed in the past year. It is an unusual concept to sing about and yet it surprisingly works, and makes you want to hear more, and dread the song finishing.

The song, ‘London’ feels political, but it’s nothing extreme. It makes you want to keep watching, as the video is making a statement. After watching the video and listening to the song a couple of times it did fill me with hope.

RJ is definitely an artist to keep an eye on. His voice is mesmerising, as he sings each word with so much meaning and passion.

Listening to  the song, it allows you to get an idea of a story and your own interpretation of it. Mine was of someone in a new city finding their bearings, feeling alienated and clueless to what is going on around them. ‘London’ has one big message, that “there’s chaos in the world outside, but there’s hope in the ones you love.”

Give the song a listen! ‘London’ by RJ Thompson is available now to stream on Spotify, Apple Music, and download from iTunes.

You can find RJ Thompson online on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and his official website.
