October Wish “Caught Up in This Lie”

October Wish, hailing from Melbourne, Australia, have a sound which can be described as “dazzling epic songwriting meets earthy organic folk-rock”. The duo, comprising Matt Leffanue and Sarah Gurry, have released their debut single, ‘Caught Up In This Lie’, a track which delves deep into the darkest depths of deceit.

October Wish began their partnership in 2012, and have recently released their debut album, ‘Between Grief And Grace’. The pair share vocal duties, and their songwriting defies classic rules and structure, written instead using a musical model that is mysterious and yet eerily familiar.

‘Caught Up In This Lie’ has a country feel to it, and the song tells the story of friendships lost, and hearts betrayed. The video shows by way of bright colours and slightly out of focus shots, a clarity and honesty. The band is shown playing their instruments, emanating all the rawness and emotion through their compelling performance. Close up shots of each member of the band draws the viewer in, while at the same time causing the listener to focus on the lyrics.
