Essential Advent Calendar: Big Top Heartbreak – ‘Christmas In The Asylum’

It’s an unusual one behind today’s door! Big Top Heartbreak and their single, ‘Christmas In The Asylum’.

‘Christmas In The Asylum’ is the new single from Big Top Heartbreak’s debut album, ‘Deadbeat Ballads’ released the end of October.

The first single made was record of the week on the Geoff Lloyd and Annabel Port show on Absolute Radio and the band have played a sold out album launch at Paper Dress Vintage and The Exchange in Bristol.

‘Christmas In The Asylum’ is a part fiction/part biographical tale. A dark ditty with a twist of humour throughout, it explores the downs and the ups of a decadent and ultimately sordid existence.

The lead man and songwriter Scott Lavene writes songs with heart, sometimes heavy but always brutally honest and always intensely passionate.  Originally from Essex, now based in Bristol after years of moving around and searching for an unobtainable elixir he put down roots and started writing songs again after a number of years missing from the music scene.

Now back and brimming with fire and fabulous tales, this is a band to watch.

Find Big Top Heartbreak online on Twitter, Facebook, and their official website. ‘Deadbeat Ballads’ is available to download from Big Top Heartbreak’s Bandcamp page, and to stream from Spotify.
