Bitten by the music bug at an early age when his mother put him in the church choir at the age of four, Dylan Bernard discovered his musical talent, which sadly went dormant when a few years later, his mother died after losing her battle with Type 2 Diabetes. As Dylan grew older however, his love for music was rekindled, and his new single, ‘Flames’, showcases his songwriting skills in a stripped down, back to basics, piano driven track.

Dylan would sing around his friends and family, who encouraged him to post his videos online for the world to see. This led to Dylan sharing the stage and participating in events alongside the likes of IM5, Drake Bell, Beverly McClellan, Trevin Hunte, and Cody Simpson – among others.

Dylan moved from his home in New Jersey to Los Angeles, where he started producing more and more songs, and found the quality of which also improved. ‘Flames’ is an intimate look at “the beginning of the end” – the inevitability of what lies ahead of us all. The video focuses on Dylan, singing at the piano, until he is interrupted by a dancer who distracts him temporarily from the path he’s set himself on. She teases him, he knows it’s not right, but he follows on regardless.

The video for ‘Flames’ is shot simply, with lighting highlighting Dylan, and features motifs such as sand pouring from his hand, perhaps to symbolise the waste of time, or the futility of following a choice which will lead away from his goal. It’s beautiful in its starkness and challenges the viewer to look inward.
