Trav Torch “Quarter Tank Of Gas”

Trav Torch has already established himself in the R&B world with his tracks, ‘Love You Down’, and ‘Red Bull and Hennessy’. Now with his new track, ‘Quarter Tank Of Gas’, from his ‘Rated R’ mixtape, he continues his ascent to the higher realms of the genre.

Trav pulls no punches, and doesn’t merely satisfy himself with vague innuendo in his lyrics, that leave room for interpretation. Instead he lays it on the line and says it how it is.

The video for ‘Quarter Tank Of Gas’ sees Trav in a race against the gas level of his car to get to his lady. It’s after 3am, she calls to say she wants him and will be ready in a few minutes, which is his signal to get going…his car is nearly out of gas however…and he knows if he stops to fill up he’ll be wasting precious time.

Trav’s voice is soft, smooth and sultry, and perfectly suited to both lyrics and subject matter. The song could very easily find its place on ‘Empire’, and it doesn’t hurt that Trav bears more than a passing resemblance to Terrence Howard, who plays central character, Lucious Lyon.

New Jersey native Trav Torch cites his influences as including R. Kelly, Usher, and Tyrese, among others. He stands out among his peers with his ability to not only perform the songs he sings, but also to write, arrange, and mix all of his own material. It’s a wonderful contrast in a time where one team writes, a second produces, and yet a third team of artists are brought in to perform a song. You can find out more about Trav Torch from his website, Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, Soundcloud, and YouTube. You can download ‘Quarter Tank Of Gas’ from CD Baby and iTunes.
