CHARACULA Gets Into The Halloween Spirit With ‘Mummy Dance’

It might only be halfway through October but Halloween is fast approaching, and for some it’s Halloween all year round. Characula is one of those people for whom the ghoulish is her bread and butter, and she’s fully embraced her love of B-movies and all things Halloween and created her horror rock goddess persona.

Characula’s new video, ‘Mummy Dance’, shows the larger-than-life singer in a sultry and sexy performance, accompanied by  cast of blonde beauties dressed in ancient Egyptian garb, as well as a giant spider (which she plays with, then later eats), Mummies, snakes (asps?) and bodies rising from the dead. It’s a very simply put together video but the total effect is both humorous and very catchy. With her Siouxsie Sioux hair and makeup, she’s familiar and yet something we’ve never encountered before.

Characula describes her music as “a blend of metal, dance and the old drive-in movie theater”, and the end result is a sound that’s 3 parts Munsters and 2 parts out of this world.
