The Rising Bring Their New Sound To ‘Last First Love’

Last First Love - The Rising

The Rising are set to release their new single, ‘Last First Love’ on 16 September. It’s the first track including all of the new line up, and it’s a sound that we can really get on board with.

Keeping true to their Irish-flavoured Americana roots, The Rising have nonetheless upgraded their sound with lineup changes. Stalwarts Chris Logan (guitars, banjo and mandolin) and Shane Watters (drums) remain, but the band now includes Chantelle McAteer on vocals, Brian Mellors on bass, and Carla Crawford on piano, synths/keyboards.

‘Last First Love’ is as uptempo as you’d expect from The Rising’s previous songs, but the addition of Chantelle’s vocals will perhaps give them a bit more of an edge into the lucrative US market.

Speaking to “The Boot”, the band explain that the video for ‘Last First Love’ tells the story of several couples, while concentrating on a songwriter who dreams of love, and writes a song about her feelings.

“Love eventually arrives,” they add, “and we follow the couple of a date, where they encounter several couples in various stages of their own relationships.”

‘Last First Love’ is available to preorder on iTunes, Amazon, and Google Playstore. You can find The Rising Online on Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, and their official website.
