THE ESSENTIAL WEEKLY PLAYLIST

This week’s essential playlist comes from Nashville country recording artist, Dawson Reigns. We’ll be bringing you more about Dawson in coming weeks.

Dawson Reigns 1

As you’ll see from my list of favourite songs, I am a fan of MUSIC, not of genre. If I like a song I listen too it! Some of my all time favourite songs are;

John Lennon – ‘Imagine’
[space height=”10″]
John Lennon was great, period! This is one of the most amazing songs ever written or performed. Been a constant on my playlist for as long as I can remember.

[space height=”10″]
The Eagles – ‘Hotel California’
[space height=”10″]
Although I heard it for the first time many years after The Eagles recorded it, when I hear the first few notes it brings me back to high school bonfires with friends singing this one out loud and bad for the most part.

[space height=”10″]
Def Leppard – ‘Pour Some Sugar On Me’
[space height=”10″]
This one is my anthem, yes mine only! Def Leppard is my all time favourite band! I’ve seen them live at least a dozen times. Seriously this song is the tops for pumping up a crowd and a party anywhere it’s played. Five words off the top, “love is like a bomb” and that guitar intro and you’re off!

[space height=”10″]
Garth Brooks – ‘The Thunder Rolls’
[space height=”10″]
It’s the lyrics, the music and the way Garth Brooks sings it that makes this one of my favourites. Love singing this one and many more of Garth’s great songs when I can. He’s the reason I got into country music.

[space height=”10″]
Queen – ‘Another One Bites The Dust’
[space height=”10″]
Really I could pick about a dozen or more Queen songs here as one of my top 10 favourites. The music by Queen was killer, pun intended and Freddie Mercury could belt it out like no other. This is one of my all time favourite bands.

[space height=”10″]
Poison – ‘Every Rose Has It’s Thorn’
[space height=”10″]
One of the best power ballad love songs that is a favourite for many music fans like me. It’s a song that I’ve played for years and is part of my live shows cause it has a great country rock vibe.
[space height=”10″]
[space height=”10″]
The Ramones – ‘I Wanna Be Sedated’
[space height=”10″]
Yes I had my punk music faze too and The Ramones had some crazy fun music to listen too. It’s another song that makes me think back on my early years and put a smile on my face. Who doesn’t start singing and jumping up and down once this song starts?!
[space height=”10″]
[space height=”10″]
Nirvana – ‘Smells Like Teen Spirit’
[space height=”10″]
Nirvana was a shot in the arm in the music industry and another great new sound. From the first time I head this song I was hooked! Still like to crank it up loud when I play it.
[space height=”10″]
[space height=”10″]
Hootie & The Blowfish – ‘Let Her Cry’
[space height=”10″]
This song, the band, Hootie & The Blowfish and Darius Rucker himself, are all favourites of mine. This was the first song I started playing when getting back into music. It’s also another that I play in my live shows.
[space height=”10″]
[space height=”10″]
U2 – ‘Still Haven’t Found What I’m Looking For’
[space height=”10″]
U2 is one of the greatest bands of all time and their music has inspired and entertained millions, including me. Another group that I could pick a dozen songs as a top favourite, just so good!
