Festival season is well and truly underway. After Buckle and Boots a couple of weeks ago I have festival fever, but not to worry as this weekend it’s the Cornbury Festival. I had such a fantastic time at this family festival last year so I’m glad I get to report on it once again this year! So for any of you who are going or are unsure whether to go or not, I’ll give you a day by day run down of who to see. There is certainly something for everyone at this festival, with a whole host of stars from the Music World to the Comedy World and great food to accompany the great line up.

Friday 8th July

So as previously mentioned there are four stages, one comedy stage and three music stages; The Songbird Stage, Riverside Stage and the Pleasant Valley stage which is the main stage. Music on the main stage begins around midday each day but may be earlier on other stages. Friday sees Jamie Cullum headlining with Jazz duo Soul II Soul performing high up the running order. R&B Brit award winner Lemar is also performing on the Friday as is a band called The Lottery Winners who just this week signed a major label record deal with Warner Brothers Records. I’m sure they will still be buzzing so I’m interested to see the energy they bring to the stage. However this year my top tip for Friday is The Dunwells, I’m really impressed with the bands songwriting abilities and think their sound will really go down well with the crowd at Cornbury Festival.

Saturday 9th July

Bryan Ferry headlines with Booker T performing just before him, I first heard Booker T on radio 2 just yesterday and liked his sound. The line up on Saturday is looking fantastic really, with the likes of Lucinda Williams and Corinne Bailey Rae and of course 23 year old Singer-Songwriter Gabrielle Aplin. However it is once again an act who is playing quite early on in the day that is my top tip; Red Sky July are made up of Ally Mcerlaine (Texas), Shelly Poole (Alisha’s Attic) and Charity Hair (The Alice Band). They are lovely people and incredibly talented and I believe they’re going to be one of the highlights of the weekend.

Sunday 10th July

Bjorn Again headlines the third and final day of Cornbury and though you may be sad it’s the last day, don’t worry it’s another packed day with the likes of Beverley Knight and Newton Faulkner performing. I have heard great things about Seal who is performing at 8:30pm, the penultimate act of the night. The ‘You Give Me Something’ singer James Morrison shall be performing at 6:30pm but not long before he takes to the stage my top tip for Sunday shall be doing their thing. Yes, The Shires are on at 4:30pm and I’m very excited to catch up with them at the festival. Being a new Dad doesn’t stop Ben from giving it his all at festivals with Chrissie, as just hours after his son was born The Shires wowed the Glastonbury crowd a couple of weeks back.

That line up along with a great Comedy line up, including the likes of Carl Donnelly and Ed Gamble is sure to keep you entertained for the three days and there will be lots of choice regarding food and drink to keep you refreshed. If you’re taking the kids, never fear, there is a kids zone which has a circus tent… can I sneak in there? I love the circus! So if you’re going, I shall see you there! Let us know who you’re most looking forward to!
