There’s Nothing ‘Rotten’ About The New Single From Altanta’s Gringo Star

‘Rotten’, the new single from Gringo Star, presents their love for nostalgic sounds of rock in the style of The Kinks. Positioned between the folky sound of The Shins and Tame Impala’s generous reverb, the raw psych finish perfectly highlights the beautiful melody.

Gringo Star’s forthcoming album, ‘The Sides And In Between’, has been likened by Pitchfork as the Atlanta band’s own version of British invasion rock, combined with the sounds of The Animals, Tame Impala, and Buddy Holly.

Recently added to the expanding roster of label, Nevado Music, ‘The Sides And In Between’ is set for release on August 26, and is currently available to pre-order from iTunes, while new single, ‘Rotten’ is out now. Gringo Star’s Nick Furglueles told Pure Volume, who premiered the video,

“ ‘Rotten’ to me, is about not letting societal standards prevent you from doing or expressing how you want and not waiting till it’s too late to do what you love.” He adds, “It’s about an establishment designed to keep people in check, and dismantling that establishment.” He further adds,

“It’s about an establishment designed to keep people in check, and dismantling that establishment.”

Gringo Star have toured relentlessly across the US and Europe, building up a diehard underground following, while at the same time sharing the bill with everyone from Cat Power and Feist, to The Black Angels and Weezer.

The band has also toured with Wavves, Best Coast, And You Will Know Us By The Trail Of Dead, and fellow Atlantans, The Black Lips.
