The Shires Bring Country To UK Festivals!

TheShires

“When you get where you’re going turn back around, help the next one in line, always stay humble and kind” – Humble and Kind – Tim McGraw

Hello!

I chose the above lyrics as this weeks quote as it came to mind when describing this week’s artists as despite their huge success, they have not let it change them and are incredibly supportive of fellow artists in their genre. One of our favourite acts is of course Britain’s most successful Country act, The Shires. Incidentally Ben was at Kaity Rae’s EP launch last night, one of our other favourite acts, and we had a lovely chat. The pair have been busy supporting the Corrs and flying backwards and forwards from Nashville recording album number 2, however it’s what Ben and Chrissie are up to over the summer that I want to tell you about. As you know it’s the beginning of Festival season now and The Shires are all over the UK, read on to see if they’re performing at a festival near you.

Their run of dates kicks off with perhaps the biggest and most well known festival, yes, you guessed it Glastonbury! The duo have a headline slot on the acoustic stage at quarter to ten on Saturday the 25th June. This is closely followed by The Cornbury Festival, you may remember last year we caught up with the duo at this fun, family festival, and we hope to do the same again on the 10th July. Their set time is 12 noon and it is located in the Great Tew Park.  They go on to play Platform Festival on July 16 in York, Lakes Festival in Skegness, also on the 16th of July, and Bracknell Festival on the 30th July. Going into August the duo will continue their run of festival dates with Lytham Festival on the 2nd, before supporting Tom Jones in Bedford on the 7th August. The dates will be concluded with Castle Roc Music Festival on the 20th August, and finally Cottingham Music Festival on Sunday 28th.

Alongside our favourite tracks from ‘Brave’, such as ‘State Lines’, ‘Nashville Grey Skies’, and the title track, ‘Brave’, The Shires will include some of their new songs in the live set. Following their debut album going gold last year, their follow up is highly anticipated. Recorded at Sound Stage Studios in Nashville where fellow Country stars such as Carrie Underwood and Tim McGraw have recorded, and with some of Nashville’s top producers and writers contributing their skills to the record, it is set to be one of the hottest release this year and I can’t wait to hear some of the new material in their set list at some of the above dates!

No one can deny The Shires were one of the top breakthrough acts of last year, across all genres with nationwide radio success, their album getting into the top 10 (which no UK Country act has done before) and their Grand Ole Opry debut. But The Shires are loved throughout the UK Country community because not only are they talented, they are paving the way for Country music here and incredibly supportive of other UK and US acts that are visiting. So show your support for UK Country, show your support for the pioneers of UK Country music, The Shires at one of their festival dates to get you in the mood for their second album!
