EKKOES are Elekktric with New Album ‘Elekktricity’

We first came across EKKOES about a year ago, when we saw them perform live in London. We were very impressed by them, and foresaw a great future for the 80s-infused dance pop band.

Since that time, EKKOES have been working hard, and are back with a new album, ‘Elekktricity’. Twelve tracks, still with that 80s sound, they include the songs that impressed us so much – ‘Last Breath’, ‘Fight The Feeling’ and ‘You Just Walked Away’, and added nine more fast paced songs. One of these songs is a very spirited cover of Laura Branigan’s ‘Self Control’, which also featured when we saw them perform in their live show.

EKKOES are Jon Beck and Rosalee O’Connell on vocals, with Dave Fawbert on keys, guitar and programming.

The band have also been busy establishing themselves as remixers of choice for Lana Del Rey among others, but the pièce de résistance is their incredible remix of Kate Bush’s ‘This Woman’s Work’.

EKKOES’ music takes its cues from not just the 80s (there’s a lot of Pet Shop Boys in there) but also more contemporary artists such as CHVRCHES, whom they have supported. Excitingly the band will be supporting The Human League on their UK and European tour later this year, but before that, they’ll be releasing a single a month – starting with ‘You Just Walked Away’, out tomorrow, 26 February – before the release of their album on 13 May, on Kids Records.
