Essential Covers: Harry Harris – ‘Superbass’

Essential Covers

Our Essential Cover this week is from Harry Harris, a Welsh born, London based, storytelling songwriter.

Harry Harris

Harry has recorded an acoustic take on Nicki Minaj’s ‘Superbass’. It’s pretty rocky, fast paced and dirty – have a listen:

According to Facebook,

“Harry Harris was educated on Van Morrison, Don McLean, James Taylor and fishfinger sandwiches made by his Gran. He writes, a lot – stories, poetry, songs and articles, and can be found all over the web. He also stamps on stages and hollers down microphones, and occasionally puts out records.”

Harry released his album, ‘Songs About Other People’, a year ago today – it’s a beautiful acoustic album recorded with analogue equipment and vintage instruments, and features 10 songs and a myriad of stories from tales of football matches (including The Ballad of Ronnie Radford, who knocked Newcastle United out of the FA Cup with his historic goal scoring…and calmly returned to his roofing job the next day), to tragic love stories in the Deep South; to a rollicking song about Kandinsky being a Synaesthete…plus a mention or two about Newton…not an easy song to write let alone sing!

‘Songs About Other People’ is available on CD for £10 from Harry’s website. You can find him online on Twitter, Facebook, and of course Soundcloud. You can see him live singing solo or with folk/punk band, Greyhounds Greyhounds Greyhounds. Check them out.

About the author

There’s a lot of music out there - good music. At Essentially Pop our remit is that we cover music that deserves to be heard, with a particular focus on independent artists. That doesn't mean we won't cover your old favourites - rather we hope to give you some new favourites as well.

We no longer accept unpaid PR agency work. We believe the creative arts have value, and this includes writing. As always, we will write about artists who contact us - or who we contact - for free - but we can no longer work free of charge for PR agencies. We work hard, we put in a lot of hours writing, and we ask that you respect that. Contact us for our very reasonable rates.
