Day 5 of the Essential Advent Calendar, and we introduce you to Lily Lambert, with her Americana-style take on the classic, ‘Carol of the Bells’.

Born in England of Irish and Welsh heritage, Lily Lambert gained international acclaim with her albums, ‘Life of Lily’ and ‘So Far’, which found her exploring a fuller sound, bordering on Folk Rock/Country. With ‘Life of Lily’, she won the IMEA award for Folk Album of the Year in 2014, an ‘So Far’ received the Akademia Award for best Singer-Songwriter Album. Additionally ‘So Far’ won a Bronze Medal at the Global Music Awards.

Lily has released her new album this week, entitled ‘Merry Christmas, With Love’. It’s a stripped down, Americana spin on the classic Christmas songs everyone knows off by heart. ‘I had to find a way into the songs to make them my own”, she says, “but was also aware that I had to honour the originals so as not to ruin them for people to whom they are so loved.”
