Stereotribes Launch, Alleycat, London

Stereotribes 3

On 23 October Essentially Pop went to the famous Alleycat venue, in London’s Denmark Street, for the launch of Stereotribes. It was a packed house, with many coming to see the artists performing, as well as find out more about the Stereotribes website, a platform which allows musicians and music innovators to raise money to support their campaigns.

First up on the night was Ina Shai, a 20 year old singer/songwriter, currently based in London. Ina is studying creative musicianship at London’s BIMM, and quite a lot of the audience had come to support her.

Ina was followed by Natalie Shay, who we have featured before on EP. Again, a singer/songwriter from London, Natalie has won the London Big Busk not once, but twice, and is set to launch her new single, ‘And They Stare’, this Friday, 6 November.

A powerful voice, the room was transfixed. Natalie won a lot of hearts on the evening, and we are sure she is destined for big things.

Following Natalie was Conor Coughlan. 19 year old Conor is set to release his new album, ‘Give It Up’. We particularly liked Conor’s song, ‘A Thing Like That’:

Stereotribes founder, Travers Lee, gave a moving talk about the history of the music industry, and Denmark Street in particular, and how things are changing in the industry – and how he hopes for Stereotribes to be part of that change.

Stereotribes aims, in an age where aspiring artists can record an album in their own bedroom, to reach their fans – their tribes, if you like – in the same way.

About the author

There’s a lot of music out there - good music. At Essentially Pop our remit is that we cover music that deserves to be heard, with a particular focus on independent artists. That doesn't mean we won't cover your old favourites - rather we hope to give you some new favourites as well.

We no longer accept unpaid PR agency work. We believe the creative arts have value, and this includes writing. As always, we will write about artists who contact us - or who we contact - for free - but we can no longer work free of charge for PR agencies. We work hard, we put in a lot of hours writing, and we ask that you respect that. Contact us for our very reasonable rates.
