Sandi Thom Shakes Our World With New Single ‘Earthquake’

Sandi Thom 2

Sandi Thom is back with the single, ‘Earthquake’, lifted from her new album ‘Weapons of Past Destruction’.

Released on Scottish label MITA, ‘Earthquake’ is autobiographically inspired by her sad and sudden split from Joe Bonamassa in 2014. It preceds her very much anticpated self-produced new album, of all new original compositions, set for release early next year.

‘Earthquke’, due for release on November 27, was written after Sandi discovered her partner had left her and moved out. She recalls the empty house, feeling as if she had been hit by an earthquake, standing in the rubble of their relationship. She likened the pain to being hit by an earthquake, where the world just shatters around you and everything you once knew and held dear suddenly is taken from you.  Rather than letting the news shatter her, Thom stepped out of the convention box and put her heartache into making the new record. She took a huge leap of faith, and produced it herself.  Sandi was the first artist ever to gain global stardom and a major label record deal through the use of live webcasting.

Sandi’s debut album, ‘Smile…It Confuses People’, and the smash hit, ‘I Wish I Was A Punk Rocker’, were released nine years ago, with the Scottish singer finding herself at the top of the UK charts, selling over 2 million copies worldwide. With that in mind, it’s hoped that ‘Earthquake’, with its explosive melody and candid lyrics, shall perform similarly.

Sandi says,

“Its the catch 22 of being a songwriter, you have to suffer through something real and raw to come out with your best work.  In a strange way, the pain of the break up inspired me to write my best album ever, so in some ways I’m thankful for having gone through it all.”

‘Earthquake’ is released on November 27th through MITA Records, with ‘Weapons of Past Destruction’ is due for release early 2016.
