Heart/Dancer Combine Ethereal Vocals And Electro Pop on ‘My Heart Is A Dancer’

Heart:Dancer 4

Swedish duo, Heart/Dancer, release their new LP, ‘My Heart Is A Dancer’ today. It’s an Electro-Pop album, their style heavy on synth and ethereal vocals, and so it’s no wonder they’ve had their music synced in both Sweden and the US.

Imaginative and airy, lead single, ‘Under’ blends Dream Pop and Shoegaze with Electro Pop, while at the same time harking back to sound of 80s New Wave.

Title track, ‘My Heart Is A Dancer’, has a slightly folky sound to it, while retaining the electro feel.

With nine tracks on the album, each one unique in its own way, it’s got something for everyone.

‘The Void’ is incredible – smooth and mellow, it’s the perfect chill song. The pops and drops and swirling rhythms swoop in and out of the song, with the vocals dropping in and out, echo-like.

Heart/Dancer are Linnéa Atieno and Joakim Buddee, from Gothenburg. When interviewed by Poule d’Or in 2014, they were asked about their musical inspirations:

“Mostly it’s about strong emotions that we want to translate to music. A lot of times we’re inspired of other people’s songs, we listen a lot to all sorts of music. But that’s emotions too, everything is carrying some sort of feeling. It’s all about finding the right ones and expressing that in the right way.”
