Smashby – ‘Pharaoh’

Smashby1

Although it’s still a good 7 months away, the selection process for the Eurovision Song Contest is well and truly underway. Trying out for Switzerland’s Open Selection is Yorkshire singer, Smashby, whose song, ‘Pharaoh’ is a rollicking pop song with a, surprise surprise, Middle Eastern feel about it.

Smashby has alway loved being on stage, and has been recording since he was 14. He’s got a dedicated fanbase who call themselves, ‘Screwballs’, and he released his crowdfunded EP, ‘Bite Me’, via Kickstarter. Having already toured the UK Pride circuit this year, including Bradford, Walsall, Grimbsy and Darlington – the last of which he headlined alongside Kitty Brucknell – Smashby believes that Eurovision will be his next big break.

‘Pharaoh’ is totally pop – catchy and dance-y with a fun melody and great beats. Smashby’s got a great, very pure sound to his voice – clear and reminsicent of Danny Saucedo – in other words, perfect for Eurovision.

Voting opens for the Swiss Selection on November 2. If you’d like to check out ‘Pharaoh’, please visit the Swiss ESC site.

You can find Smashby online on Soundcloud, Twitter, Facebook, and his website.
