Hvmmingbyrd

All-female band, Hvmmingbyrd (pronounced Hummingbird) released their eponymous debut album in November last year. Describing their sound as ‘melodic soulful indie-folk’, Hvmmingbyrd focuses on two and three part harmonies, resulting in an absolutely gorgeous feast for the ears.

Formed in County Kildare, Ireland, Hvmmingbyrd comprises friends Deborah Byrne, Becca Carroll, Dolores Fogarty and Helen Lane. They remind us a lot of Clannad, and 90s group, Wilson Phillips. Soft, soothing, relaxing – but with a bit of an edge. Their album has enjoyed a lot of success on Irish radio – tracks have been on regular rotation on RTÉ Radio 1, Lyric FM and Dublin City FM (plus more). This year the band was named one of Hot Press ‘Super Six’ of 2015 – high praise from Ireland’s go-to music magazine!

You can find Hvmmingbyrd online on their website, Facebook, and Twitter. Check out their album via Spotify. It’s available to buy on Bandcamp and iTunes.
