Tanya Montana Coe – ‘Silver Bullet’

Tanya Montana Coe has music in her blood.

The daughter of Outlaw Country singer David Allan Coe (and in fact the subject of one of his songs) she instead headed down a different path. Raised by a single mother and helping to raise her younger siblings, Tanya was motivated by constant money concerns to work her way through to a MTSU Accounting BA – only to find herself in a lucrative job where she more often than not pretended to work while penning the lyrics for what would end up being the songs on her debut album, ‘Silver Bullet’.

Realising that corporate life was not for her, she took the gamble, and with her best friend opened the Goodbuy Girls clothing store, in East Nashville. Goodbuy Girls gives her enough time to focus on her music. Surprisingly, the 28 year old only picked up the guitar in her 20s, with  ‘Silver Bullet’, her first complete song. Sultry and steamy, it’s altogether a great tune.

‘Silver Bullet’ will be released online on 30 August, with a limited run on pink vinyl. It’s been recorded in the same “secret” studio where Jack White produced Loretta Lynn’s 2004 album, ‘Van Lear Rose’. For a debut album, it’s a great one – with Soul and Americana influences – even 90s Hip Hop and R&B.

Find Tanya Montana Coe online on Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, SoundCloud and her website.

Check out ‘Silver Bullet’ here, and we’re sure you’ll be glad Tanya returned to her roots.
