Hannah In The Wars – ‘Only Wanna Be’

Hannah In the Wars6

Hannah Curwood wrote ‘Only Wanna Be’ after a breakup which saw her move from the stark, remote region of Central Otago, New Zealand, to London – literally the other side of the world. ‘Only Wanna Be’ perfectly showcases her beautiful vocals and songwriting prowess, and is taken from her eponymous album, produced by Roger O’Donnell, keyboardist with The Cure.

‘Hannah in the Wars’ is the result of working alongside Roger O’Donnell of The Cure and a handpicked group of musicians. the album was released earlier this year, and is a collection of beautifully written melodies and emotionally engaging narratives, taking inspiration from life’s trials and triumphs. It’s the perfect showcase for Hannah’s distinctive and powerful vocals.

Speaking about ‘Only Wanna Be’, and its B-side, ‘Sweet Release’, Hannah says their creation came easily, and despite their subject matter, have come to occupy a positive space in her mind. They were received well by audiences on her recent two month tour across the UK, Ireland, New Zealand and Germany.
