Introducing: SHEL

shel_001

Four sisters, homeschooled by their mother while their dad worked as a musician, the Holbrook girls were raised in Fort Collins, Colorado. SHEL is an acronym of their names – Sarah (on violin), Hannah, playing keyboards, Eva, mandolin, and Liza taking up drums, djembe, and beatboxing. Their music is filled with infectious rhymes and hypnotic vocals – resulting in a mesmerising sound that illustrates their perfect meld of their classical training and diverse influences. Five years ago they supported Sarah McLachlan’s ‘Lilith’ tour on the Denver leg – the rest, as they say, is history.

Captivating their audiences, whether they be playing folk festivals or with orchestras, SHEL have spent the last couple of years touring to support their critically acclaimed eponymous debut release. Their show features distinctive arrangements and high energy – and their songs have been featured in numerous television shows (including their song, ‘Hold On’, which was featured in a pivotal scene in ‘The Best of Me’, and is the lead video from the film and soundtrack). Music isn’t the only area the sisters have a creative interest in – their quirky style has received rave reviews, and they create all their own music videos, with Sarah as videographer and editor.

SHEL are currently working on their second album with Dave Stewart, most famous for The Eurythmics.

SHEL will be performing on Monday 13 July at St Pancras Church, London, at 7pm. Tickets are available here.

You can download their album, ‘SHEL’ on iTunes. Find SHEL online on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Soundcloud, Youtube, Spotify and their Official Website.
