Introducing: Seeker

seeker3

We call this an introduction, but in reality, Brighton based Soul band, Seeker, have been writing and recording their own music for over 10 years. We’re happy to be introducing them to our readers though: Seeker are too good to remain the secret pleasure of a select few.

Lead singer Jen Jarvis and guitarist/producer Adam Jarvis head up the band, moulding its evolution into what it is today. More recently Seeker has introduced drummer Chris Gwilt, Finn Hodgson on bass, and backing vocalist, Shannon Nieuwoudt. For their bigger shows, Seeker are regularly joined by other session musicians.

Citing inspiration from a wide range of musicians and genres, “from Marvin Gaye to Amy Winehouse, from Herbie Hancock to Erykah Badu, from Jungle Boogie to Cosmic Girl”, Seeker’s sound is influenced by the music they love, and the result is “music with a groove – soul with a splash of jazz, and a dash of electro here and there.” In short, Seeker makes music that makes you want to move, to tap your toes, wiggle your hips, nod your head – the perfect pick me up music.

Seeker are putting the finishing touches to their first ever single release, which they hope to be out sometime this summer. Jen says,

“It’s a super upbeat, summery tune, and I’m really excited to get it out there!
During the summer we’ll continue working on our next full album which will contain songs we’ve written over the past year or so, and be released sometime in the late 2015 or early 2016.”

Check out Seeker online on their website, on Twitter, Facebook, Soundcloud, Instagram and YouTube. Seeker will be performing at Adur Fun Day, Shoreham, on 20 September. Details on the event’s Facebook page.
