Philco Fiction – ‘Bodies’

Philco Fiction

“It’s ten past Saturday. Call my name make me stay. I got time if you need to waste it with me. Don’t let my body walk away” (Bodies 2015)

Out of Oslo, Norway, Philco Fiction, named after a Google search led them to the Philco Radio Company, who “made really nice radios in the 1930s”, comprises Turid Alida Solberg and Andreas Knudsrød.

Having received great reviews for their debut album, ‘Take It Personal’ in 2012, Philco Fiction bring ‘Bodies’, the lead track from their new album (details as yet to be announced).

‘Take It Personal’ was followed by showcases and festivals, including Eurosonic, SXSW, The Great Escape, Iceland Airwaves, Øya, Hove, and Bylarm. Their innovative and seductive dream pop saw them sell out shows in Denmark, Germany, The UK, France, Belgium, and The Netherlands, and even took them to China, where they toured extensively, from the east to the west.

With haunting songs and astral electronic arrangements, Philco Fiction create a pure form of pop, which ‘leaves fluid fingerprints on your soul’ and certainly makes a lasting impression.

‘Bodies’, piano driven R’n’B inspired, is perfect Scandi-pop. The haunting vocals of Turid Solberg float effortlessly in a sea of melancholy, singing of deliberation over bad excuses. It’s a beautiful track, Turid singing both lead and harmonies. Rather than overpower, the keyboards accentuate the vocals.

Following their tour of China, Philco Ficition immediately started working on new material:

“Alongside exploring new collaborations we’ve been holed up in studio for the last 2 years, patiently working on our 2nd album. The process has been extremely interesting and a bit exhausting, but the result is 10 beautiful pop collages, and we can’t wait to share it with the world. The album is nearly finished and now it’s all about new music, new moves & Philco Fiction. We are so excited” – Turid Soldberg.

Philco Fiction have recently signed to independent UK label, Killing Moon Records. ‘Bodies’ was released on 4 May. Check it out on Spotify and SoundCloud:
