Jenn Bostic – ‘Counterfeit’

Jenn Bostic Counterfeit2

The video for the latest single from Jenn Bostic’s album, ‘Faithful’, is out now. ‘Counterfeit’ is,

…a song of deceit, uncovering the true colours of someone or something that has misinterpreted the truth. Whether it be a lover or a negative voice in your mind, it’s wrapped in beautiful clothing, slowly pulling you into its lie.” says Jenn.

The Nashville-based singer/songwriter has recently broken the UK, giving her more confidence in following her instincts as an artist. ‘Counterfeit’ is a powerful song, exploring the strong emotions of fakery within a relationship, and the heartbreaking realities of deceptive lies. Jenn’s raw vocals flow melodically over the beautiful track, making it one of the most dominant and emotional songs on the album.

With just a few self-booked tours under her belt, Jenn released her album, ‘Jealous’ in 2012, featuring the song, ‘Jealous of the Angels’. She shot a shoestring budget video, posting it on YouTube. What happened next is the stuff of fairy tales.

“The song first came to prominence thanks to the veteran DJ Simon Bates, when he played it on his Smooth Radio show … The response was enormous, and soon it was part of the playlist on Radio 2, which led to a performance of the song on BBC Breakfast.” (Jenn speaking to the Daily Mail)

Jenn continues:

“I found out about it on Twitter, when someone wrote to say they’d heard the song on Smooth Radio and was moved by it. I thought, ‘An online radio station found it on YouTube – that’s awesome.’ Then I found out that Smooth Radio is one of the biggest stations in the UK.”

This was followed up in the UK charts by ‘Not Yet’, which went on to win five Independent Country Music Association Awards. On the back of this, Jenn was invited to perform at the Grand Ole Opry.

Going on to be the first independent international artist to have three singles play listed on BBC Radio 2 – the first two were joined by ‘Missin’ a Man’ – Jenn was invited by Sir Terry Wogan to the station for a special St Patrick’s Day appearance on his programme, Weekend Wogan.

It’s hoped Counterfeit will similarly join the ranks of the playlisted – check out the video:
