Introducing: Daryl Irvine

“The movement and sonic displays ebb and flow from the quiet to the powerful and are reminiscent of bands such as Snow Patrol” – Metro Newspaper (London)

“There is a distinguishing sense of artistry apparent in the crafting and performance of these songs” – Time Out Magazine (Australia)

Daryl Irvine is a New Zealand born Australian singer songwriter. Having written and performed since he was 16, Daryl toured with covers bands in Australia for a few years before breaking out on his own with his own songs. Daryl moved to the UK in 1999 but is now back home, and based in Brisbane, Australia.

Citing his earliest influences as Peter Gabriel, Pink Floyd, Tori Amos and Sting, Daryl has recently found inspiration in artists such as Alt J, Ed Sheeran and Hozier, among others.

‘My Rainbow Girl’, due for release on July 15, is Daryl’s latest album. It’s a collection of songs he’s written (and produced) over the past few times. The Rainbow Girl in the title speaks to the elusive, ever-changing vision of one’s soulmate – a vision that shifts and evolves, as we learn to love the idiosyncrasies of those we fall in love with – and which affect us long after they’re gone.

The album’s release coincides with the that of the first single and music video, ‘Cosmic Embrace’, a love song about what could be, sung in a style that could only have been written in a country with long hot summers. You can feel the yearning in the lyrics, and know that Daryl is singing with the experience of someone who’s felt unrequited love.

Daryl reminds us of fellow Aussie artists, Steve Grace and Colin Buchanan. He’s got a really fresh and breezy style that could easily be adapted to sing Australian Country if he wanted to.

Outside of performing, Daryl is a Creative Director and Film Director, and is currently working on various short film and music video projects, for his own album, as well as for other Australian artists. Daryl hopes to return to the UK early in 2016 to promote ‘My Rainbow Girl’.
