Having made her UK debut last year with her EP, “Breaking Rules”, Ninsun Poli is back with her much anticipated follow up, “Great Leap Forward”, which will be released on April 28. The Swedish singer has just got back from SXSW in Austin, Texas, and a UK album launch late last month.

Great Leap Forward is brilliant Scandi Electro Pop.  Lead track, “Good”, had us dancing in our seats, and would lend itself well to remixes. An uplifting song with a punchy back beat it wouldn’t be out of place in any club.

Second track, “Forever”, has an 80s feel about it, again with a powerful beat, and some great bass underlying Ninsun’s gorgeous voice.

“Heartless”, the third song on the EP, seems to borrow from Poli’s Assyrian roots, with a very “world music” feel about it, yet is seamlessly grafted to a dance beat that again, has us wanting to get up off our seats.

“Eye of the Beholder” is a slower number, with dramatic overtones, and reminiscent of Sia with the repeated refrain. It’s a beautiful, yet very serious song.

Rounding up the EP is the title track, “Great Leap Forward”. A powerful song, with a throbbing synth behind the vox, it’s a positive piece about not letting the bad stuff get you down, because a brighter day is just around the corner.

Keep your eyes on Ninsun Poli’s official website for details about purchasing “Great Leap Forward”.
