Kitty Brucknell Shortlisted for Moldova!

Kitty-Glamour-and-Damage

Not daunted by being passed over for selection to represent Switzerland at next year’s Eurovision Song Contest, EP favourite Kitty Brucknell has decided to try her hand as the Moldovan entry.

Moldova, memorable in recent years for their twice entered Zdob Si Zdub (2005 with “Boonika Bata Doba” – loosely translated as “Granny Beats Her Drum”, and 2011’s “So Lucky” – the ones with the granny in the rocking chair and the unicyclists in hats, respectively), is for the first time opening entry to foreign acts. Kitty’s shortlisting is with two songs, “Yearning”, her entry for Switzerland, and “Remix”. We really loved the passionate dance track, “Yearning” when she put it forward for the Swiss entry, and we also quite enjoy “Remix:, which has a really funky Euro-beat. Hopefully it’s a good sign having two entries shortlisted – Kitty is one of only four entries to have more than one song get through.

Moldova only joined the Eurovision Song Contest in 2005, with its best result to date their debut entry, “Boonika Bata Doba”, which finished 6th. Their only other top ten result was 2007 entry Natalia Barbu’s “Fight”, which reached 10th place in the final.

Kitty’s debut album “Glamour and Damage” is available to buy now. See her website for details.

The first wave of tickets for next year’s Eurovision Song Contest are sold out, but more are expected to be released at the end of January. Keep checking back to Eurovision.tv for details.
